So this is Oprah right after it was annnounced that Barack Obama won the presidential election in 2008. I found this on people.com and I literally laughed out loud at her quote. Oprah said,”I cried my eyelashes off” on her reaction to Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention.
When asked about why Oprah is endorcing Obama, “Because I know him personally,” Ms. Winfrey replied. “I think that what he stands for, what he has proven that he can stand for, what he has shown was worth me going out on a limb for – and I haven’t done it in the past because I haven’t felt that anybody, I didn’t know anybody well enough to be able to say, I believe in this person.”
I found this on NYTimes.com and thought that it was interesting.
I also hear that Oprah’s ratings went down when she publically announced that she was supporting Obama’s campaign. I think that is absolutely ubsurd because people should watch Oprah for the issues she discusses and not who she stands for politically.
