Movies anyone?

colonie_center_theater_exteriorThere is always that one thing in a person’s life that they would not be complete without it. In my case, that one thing is the movies. I absolutely adore the movies and would go there every single day if I had the money and time to do so. The movies are a good place to go during any block of free time, after a long stressful day, or more thrilling a date!

I enjoy physically going to the movie theater rather then renting a movie because it gives it the element of being mobile and productive. The only thing that you are really doing is sitting and watching a movie, yet it still serves as something to do. There is something about the movie reel and popcorn smell, which brings a great big smile to my face. Although my friends think that it is rather pathetic, I would pass up almost everything to sit and watch a movie at the theater.

When coming to Albany clearly one of the deal breakers was how close the movie theater was to the school and if there was an easy accessible way to get to school and back from the theater. Luckily, the people who live in the Albany area have not one, but four movie theaters within a 15-minute radius of the school.

The first theater being the easiest to get to is Crossgates Cinema, which is located in the Crossgates mall. The Crossgates mall is about a five minute drive and a ten minute bus ride, making this cinema very easy to get to. The Crossgates Cinema is newly adding an IMax theater, which will make it the only IMax Theater in the capital region. This movie theater is two floors and 18 theaters, and has two concession stands, making it the biggest theater in the Region.

The two theaters in downtown Albany are the Spectrum and Madison theaters. These are about a fifteen minute bus ride or ten minute drive to get to. These theaters are also cheaper then the ones uptown by almost half the amount. There are also many good deals such as two for one and half off on certain days because they are privately owned theaters. These theaters are real small town theaters and give you the homey feeling opposed to the overwhelming crowded sense that the bigger theaters tend to have.

Lastly, my favorite theater is the Colonie Center Regal Cinema, which is located in the Colonie Center Mall. This theater although a tad more expensive, offers rocking reclining chairs, so that you could watch your movies in comfort and not sit upright throughout the entire movie. This Cinema has only 13 theaters, yet since this theater is not even a year old; every thing still looks and feels brand new. The thing that I like most about this theater is definitely the comfortable seats.

If you are ever bored one freezing cold Albany night, I highly suggest that you take a trip to the closest movie theater, bring a loved one and enjoy! The Albany area certainly has great movie theaters so take advantage of the IMAX Theater or the rocking chair seats!
